We represented a 16-year-old sophomore who sustained two comminuted femur fractures as a passenger in a single-car crash. The driver passed away from his injuries while the other passenger suffered minor injuries. Speed was a factor in the crash.
Our client was taken by helicopter to the hospital from the scene of the crash and was in and out of consciousness as a result of blood pooling in his legs. Remarkably, after an intramedullary nailing procedure, he made just about a full recovery. In addition to the femur fractures, he had a complex facial fracture, multiple spinal fractures, an orbital fracture, and hemorrhaging on the brain.
Seriously, he’s lucky to be alive.
