Monika is our Disability Appeals Assistant and a key player on our Long-Term Disability team.
Monika works closely with Mary Bruniary to support clients during the appeals process. Her role involves gathering and organizing medical and occupational evidence, conducting personal statement interviews, and helping file appeal documents.
Born in Guatemala and raised in Maryland, Monika moved to Virginia two years ago to be with her now-husband. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and brings a warm, empathetic approach to every client interaction—making them feel supported throughout a stressful and confusing process.
Before joining BenGlassLaw in May 2025, Monika spent several years as a medical assistant before pivoting into the legal field. The switch wasn’t just a career move—it was a calling. She discovered how fulfilling it is to help people navigate the legal side of their health journeys.
She loves exploring new places, experimenting with baking recipes, and cherishing time with her loving and supportive family. Monika is the youngest of three siblings and brings both compassion and professionalism to her work at BGL.

A highlight of your career at BGL: (Coming soon!)
Interesting fact about yourself: I started in the medical field and discovered my passion for law while assisting in legal offices—a career switch I’ve never regretted!
You can spend 24-hours with someone dead or alive – who would it be: My future self.
First meal after getting rescued from an island: A spicy chicken sandwich and an iced cold Dr. Pepper.
If you had a time machine, what time period would you travel to? I’d like to visit any of the world’s mysteries. The time Jesus was alive, the Pyramids, Stonehenge, the lost civilization of Roanoke, and the Library of Alexandria.
