Meet Massiel, our firm’s Administrative Assistant.
Massi first started at BGL as our Legal Receptionist, answering and directing phone calls, greeting our guests, and more. She always had the goal of getting into law school while and our team rooted her on the entire time. She was recently accepted into a law school in Boston and relocated there to work on her law degree. We love Massi so much that we couldn’t let her go completely — so she now works part-time for us as an Administrative Assistant, helping us remotely (and after she gets her homework done!) get projects to the finish line.
Massi was born in Havana, Cuba, where her parents met and graduated with Industrial Engineering degrees. She is also half Ghanaian, bringing a rich cultural background from an assortment of different countries. Her and her family moved to Cape Verde shortly after she was born, then moving to Miami, FL when she was nine. She grew up with one older sibling, her sister Melissa, who has always been her sidekick. All of her immediate family, along with her dog, Tuti, currently reside in Miami, Florida.
Outside of work, Massiel enjoys working on her law school materials, reading books, scrapbooking, hiking, and planning future trips. She recently graduated from the University of Florida and moved to Northern Virginia to work at BenGlassLaw.
Inside the Mind of Massiel:
Favorite thing about your role: I love that I get to be the first point of contact with many of our potential clients. I also enjoy translating and allowing our Spanish speaking clients to feel heard and understood. Legal troubles can be hard, so I am happy to help make people’s lives become just a little bit easier.
Favorite thing about working at BGL: My favorite thing about working at BGL is the fact that the team is constantly being well-taken care of. From the moment I started my position, the team has ensured that I have everything I need to ensure my success.
Interesting fact about yourself: During college, I did a program called Semester at Sea where I got to live and do school on a ship while traveling to 11+ countries.
Best vacation you’ve ever been on: I have been incredibly lucky to visit very cool places throughout the course of my life, however, I recently got back from a trip to Hawaii and Australia which was a dream! Not only did I get to visit my 6th continent, but I got to see a new side of the world.
First meal after getting rescued from an island: A gallon of water, two slices of New York style pizza, and some chocolate covered strawberries!
