Damon Miller is a long-term disability lawyer at BenGlassLaw who also handles short-term disability and life insurance claims for people whose benefits have been denied or challenged by insurance companies.
Damon has spent his legal career helping people fight for the insurance benefits they rely on when they can no longer work or when an insurance company refuses to honor a claim. He enjoys digging into complicated cases, understanding the details of a client’s situation, and finding a way to make sure their story is heard by an insurance company or, when necessary, a court.
Damon earned his undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and his law degree from William & Mary Law School, also known as the Marshall-Wythe School of Law.
Damon handles disability and life insurance cases in federal courts throughout the country. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Virginia, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the District of Maryland, the District of Columbia, Colorado, Nebraska, the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the Western District of Michigan, the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Eastern District of Tennessee, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Damon is also active in the broader disability-law community, where he writes and speaks about ERISA and disability insurance issues. He regularly presents on ERISA law and disability benefits as a subject matter expert, including at events hosted by the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Board of Vocational Experts. In 2023, he was invited to speak at the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) Annual Conference, a major national gathering for attorneys who represent people seeking disability benefits.
His work and insights have also been featured by the White Coat Investor, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and Law360, where he has written, presented, or been quoted about disability insurance, ERISA claims, and disability benefits litigation.
One of Damon’s favorite parts of practicing law is being able to tell a client that BenGlassLaw has recovered the benefits they were fighting for. For him, the work is about more than understanding complicated insurance policies and federal law. It is about listening to people who are going through a difficult time, understanding what they need, and helping them find a way forward.
Outside of the office, Damon enjoys spending time with his wife, Emily, traveling, hiking, exploring new places, and trying new food. He is also a writer who spends much of his free time creating fantasy and science fiction stories.
