We represented a passenger in an SUV who was hit head-on in a horrific car accident in Spotsylvania – liability was not in question. The defendant lost control of their car, went off the roadway to the right, overcorrected, and then crossed the double-yellow line before crashing into our client.

Our client sustained intraabdominal hemorrhaging due to tears in her colon and small intestine. She underwent extensive abdominal surgery to repair the colon in two places and the small intestine in three places. In addition to the abdominal injury, she also suffered a ten-centimeter laceration to her left knee, a five-centimeter laceration to her eyebrow, a compression fracture to the L2 vertebrae, and four fractured ribs.

Our client was hospitalized for nine days following the surgery and now has permanent scarring on her abdomen and knee.

The settlement represents all the available insurance coverage from the liability carrier and from our client’s personal underinsured motorist carrier.
