When you are making a claim for long-term disability benefits, there is a good chance that the insurance company will hire a surveillance company to track your activities over a period of days. They are more likely to do this if you have a diagnosis which you claim limits your ability to do normal day-to-day activities.
There are usually two good clues to know whether they may be videotaping you:
- they send you an activities log and ask that you keep a record of what you do for a week or so.
- They want to know specific details (date/time) of your next doctor's appointment
You should always be brutally honest conservative in describing your limitations to the disability insurance company.
