If you have been in a car accident, one of the first things that will happen after the accident is reported to the insurance company is that you will get a call from the other person's insurance asking you for a recorded statement. Whether or not you participate in the call is your decision.
Here are some things to thing about before saying "yes, sure, I'll do it."
- The insurance company will NEVER let you take a recorded statement from the person they represent
- The insurance adjuster is very experienced at asking questions and getting you to make one of the "5 Biggest Mistakes" that I discuss in my consumer book on Virginia car accidents.
- You darn well shouldn't make ANY statement while you are under the influence of narcotics
- The recording of the call can be played in court and used against you.
Just think about it.
