Two residents of Fairfax, Virginia, were struck by David Kwon, a 31-year old Gaithersburg driver, on January 18. The 76-year old man and 54-year old woman were attempting to cross Chain Bridge Road near Fairfax Boulevard when they were hit.
Neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries, but they were taken to Fairfax Hospital for examination.
Kwon reportedly came to a partial stop at the intersection and assumed the two people were waiting to cross. He then made a right turn as the "Walk" sign came on and as the two victims stepped out into the crosswalk.
The driver stopped his vehicle, and traffic was blocked for some time after police came to the scene.
