Finding The Right Lawyer For Your Case is Difficult but Important

Do you expect your lawyer to give the personal attention that your case needs? Fight for you? Be Aggressive? Care about your case? Of course you should! But if we only gave you one piece of advice, it is this:

  • Any ad that mentions what is listed above as “benefits” are 100% meaningless. Lawyers should do all of the above anyway, so why should those be perks?

Developing a system to find the right lawyer for your case sounds like a lot of work, right? It should be. Finding the right lawyer for your case is very important; it’s not like finding the carpet cleaner or pest control service.

First, the right attorney for you should be someone you are comfortable with. Some cases can take months, even years to settle. During that time, your attorney should have a system for updating you on your case. They should be able to tell you, up front, the timeline for cases like yours.

Second, you need an attorney with experience and more importantly, trial experience. Attorneys are specialists, and there is not a "one-size-fits-all" attorney to meet your needs. Find an attorney who is a specialist in your type of case. You should also hire an attorney who has a lot of experience in the courtroom. Just because your friend from church passed the bar does not mean they are the right attorney for you. Look for attorneys with a track record of success inside and outside the courtroom.
