Virginia Drivers Have Trouble Staying in Their Lanes, Making It the Leading Cause of Fatal Car Accidents in the State

It looks like Virginians are not alone in having trouble staying in their lanes, as it comes in as the most common cause for fatal car accidents in the United States.

Driving conditions in Northern Virginia are notoriously stressful thanks to lengthy commutes and nearly endless traffic. This can quickly lead to distracted driving practices, such as texting and driving, putting on makeup in the car, eating breakfast behind the wheel, and more. Distracted drivers can unexpectedly drift partway into another lane, or fail to pain attention as traffic patterns change.

There are also drivers who will aggressively try to maneuver through traffic to shave a minute or two off of their commute. This behavior endangers others on the road and tends to compound problems that are already present on crowded highways.

If you are ever in an accident while driving in Northern Virginia, make sure you do three things:

  1. Call the police to get an accident report officially filled out.
  2. Tend to your injuries. Call an ambulance if needed.
  3. Take pictures of the scene. You will be grateful to have this documentation later on.

On the other hand, if you have already been struck by another driver in Northern Virginia, you may have an opportunity to recover damages for your medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. We may be able to help you. Start by calling us at (703)584-7277.
