Even when searching for an attorney, you need to do some legal research on your own.  Before you can start to look for the best lawyers, you need to educate yourself.  Take some time to learn about your legal issue.  This way, you can search for lawyer experienced in your area of need and ask educated questions to find the best one for you.

The following is a list of useful tools for your research:

  • Look on the Internet for frequently asked questions (FAQs) about your legal problem
  • View educational YouTube videos (but stay away from the ads!)
  • Visit general legal websites
  • Take a trip to the library and check out a book or two about your legal area

Not all of the research you gather will be useful, especially from the Internet.  Still, it will help you get a handle on your situation and enable you to find the right lawyer.
