You hear that a lot, don't you? "The price of medicine is going sky high because of frivolous medical malpractice settlements." Not true. The reality is that good cases tend to get settled (except in Virginia when the injury is catastrophic, then the insurance company is protected by Virgina's "cap" on damages, almost always throws the dice) for reasonable amounts.
