If Your Injuries Aren’t Serious, You May Not Need a Fairfax Accident Attorney

An accident case settlement is designed to compensate you for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering from an accident. If you've suffered minor injuries, you probably won’t seek a very high settlement. In this case, you may be able to settle your case without a Fairfax accident attorney and keep the full settlement amount for yourself.

If you didn’t get rushed straight to the ER and undergo serious medical care like surgery, your injuries were probably minor. As long as you don’t require extensive medical treatment like therapy for more than four months, major surgery or hospitalization, your medical bills may not amount to much beyond what is covered by insurance.

Next, consider how much insurance you have to draw upon. An accident case that can settle without a Fairfax accident attorney typically has medical expenses amounting to less than the state’s minimum requirement for car insurance (that’s $25,000 for Virginia and may be higher or lower in other states).

If you only lost a few days of work, your employer may cover these days under sick time. As long as you’re not missing more than five days, and there’s no diagnosis of long-term or permanent disability, you may be able to settle without a lawyer.

These are just a few examples of the types of accident cases that don’t need a lawyer. It boils down to the price tag for damages you’ve suffered from the accident. Little expenses and losses mean a small settlement, and you don’t need lawyer fees eating that up.
