Mary is our Disability Appeals Case Manager who has a passion for assisting our Long-Term Disability clients.

Mary attended George Mason University, where she received her B.A. in Global Affairs. After completing her undergraduate degree, Mary was accepted into the JET Program and moved to Japan, where she taught English as a Second Language for two years in Mie Prefecture. Upon her return to the United States, Mary began pursuing her M.P.S. in Paralegal Studies at the George Washington University and graduated in December 2022.

She loves fitness, trying out new recipes, participating in church activities, spending time with friends and family, cross-stitching, singing badly to karaoke, and visiting wineries.

Inside the mind of Mary Bruniary:

Favorite thing about your role: Helping clients navigate their disability appeal during a stressful time in their life and alleviating the burden of navigating a lengthy and complicated appeal process by themselves.

Favorite thing about working at BGL: Working with my incredible colleagues, who are both professionally and personally some of the greatest people I’ve ever met.

A highlight of your career at BGL: The first time a client ever told me that I was making a real difference in his life.

Interesting fact about yourself: I’m one of 33 first cousins on my mother’s side of the family. (My mom was one of 11 children!)

Best vacation you’ve ever been on: My honeymoon trip to Ireland in 2022, complete with an overnight stay in a castle.

First meal after getting rescued from an island: The same meal I used to get first thing whenever I flew back from Japan – a Chipotle burrito bowl (with guac, of course).

If you could merge animals together, which two would you choose and why? I would mix a lion and a tiger to create a liger. ‘It’s pretty much my favorite animal. It’s like a lion and a tiger mixed…bred for its skills in magic.’ If you know, you know.

What is your guilty pleasure? Just about any TV show on TLC.
