Damon Miller

Disability & Life Insurance Attorney

Damon Miller

Damon Miller

Damon is a disability attorney who has been part of the team since May 2020 and leads the Trial Court Litigation Division of the firm. He represents disabled claimants against insurance companies that have wrongfully denied benefits. Because he understands that insurance companies sometimes ignore the advice of doctors and deny valid claims without listening to the claimants voice, Damon’s passion is to listen and help the disabled be heard loud and clear by the insurance company.

He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he studied English Literature, and of William & Mary Law School (the Marshall-Wythe School of Law). He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Fairfax Bar Association, and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.

Damon is admitted to the following courts: Supreme Court of Virginia; United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia; United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia; United States District Court for the District of Maryland; United States District Court for the District of Colorado.

When he’s not battling insurance companies, he loves spending time with his wife, Emily. They’re always going on new adventures together, exploring new places, and trying new food. And in his spare time, he creates new worlds. He writes fantasy and science fiction stories and he’s currently writing an epic book series about an ancient medieval civilization facing the end of the world (think Lord of the Rings but with more dragons and explosions).

From the mind of Damon Miller:

Favorite thing about your role: Seeing the joy on my clients’ face when I tell them we recovered benefits for them.

Favorite thing about working at BGL: Our quarterly outings, where we’ve done stuff like played TopGolf, pickleball, and seen magic shows.

A highlight of your career at BGL: Speaking to the nation’s top Social Security attorneys in a conference in 2023 where I taught them about ERISA Long-Term Disability law.

Interesting fact about yourself: I’ve been to Jordan, Israel, Australia, and Haiti.

You can spend 24-hours with someone dead or alive – who would it be: Brandon Sanderson (fantasy and science fiction author)

What’s something most people like but you don’t understand? Spaghetti. It’s overrated and the least interesting pasta by far.

Favorite movie or tv show? The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
