The Richmond, Virginia Car Accident

Our client was sitting at a light in Richmond Virginia when she was struck, head on, by an elderly driver who failed to control her car as she turned into our clients road.

She did not seek treatment immediately as she had to pick up her child at day care. She saw her doctor the next day, complaining of head pain and dizziness.

The Injuries – An Orbital Fracture

It was later determined that she had an orbital fracture which required surgery.

An orbital fracture is a break in one or more of the bones surrounding the eye, known as the eye socket or orbit. These injuries often occur due to trauma to the face and can lead to issues such as double vision, sunken eyeball, or numbness in the area due to nerve damage.

Treatment for an orbital fracture depends on the severity and location of the break. Minor fractures might heal on their own with rest and ice to reduce swelling. More severe fractures may require surgical intervention to realign the bones and ensure that the eye’s function is not permanently affected. Surgery might also involve the use of plates or screws to stabilize the bones. After surgery, antibiotics to prevent infection and anti-inflammatory medications to reduce swelling may be prescribed. Additionally, patients are generally advised to avoid blowing their nose and engaging in strenuous activities during the healing period to prevent further complications.

She contacted our office after the insurance adjuster offered to meet with her at a local restaurant to settle the case. She contacted a Richmond personal injury firm who offered to help her in return for a contingent fee of over 41%. She then visited the BenGlassLaw car accident frequently asked questions page before giving us a call.

She hired BenGlassLaw for her Richmond injury claim, and we investigated the accident and negotiated with the insurance company. The case settled for $100,000 (the maximum insurance available.)
